Light changes surface reading
When considering lighting for wall panels, don't view the pattern in isolation from the light source. Side lighting can make the relief more prominent, while balanced front lighting softens some shadows. The result varies depending on the depth of the pattern, the finish, and the viewer's position, so it's worth experimenting within the space.
Test more than one mode
Before committing to a lighting setup, if possible, examine a sample of the material or piece under the suggested light. Experiment with different angles and review the scene from both close and far distances. Observe shadows at intervals and any reflections that obscure details or create visual discomfort. A single photograph does not always reveal the final result.
Coordinate the color and lighting
Colors and finishes respond differently. When choosing a wall covering, such as a black and gold contrast, it's helpful to compare the lighting with the actual color rather than relying solely on a screen image. Assemble a sample wall and surrounding materials as part of the experiment so you don't make the decision based on the piece alone.
Prepare project information
When discussing a custom project with Fuzzed, share the location and approximate height of the light fixtures and a photo of the wall. If lighting is to be integrated into 3D-printed panels, review the wiring, maintenance access, and installation details with specialists before implementation. The integrated design process begins when the panel and lighting are discussed together, right from the initial stage.
